Home at last!

I’m home, woehoe! Now don’t think I haven’t had fun these last few weeks, I had a blast, but I was ready to go back to my family.

Now, let me take you back a couple of days.

Thursday we had a day off, never has a day been so long! Woke up way to early, arrived at Campus at eight to do some research, went shopping and already came home around 12, the hours went by so slow! Made myself a tosti, skyped. After that I realized that it wasn’t even one o’clock . Skyped some more and to kill time, watched Pocahontas, sad sad story. Thank the Lord that I had promised to cook dinner gave me something to do. After dinner we went to Mallerd’s to get ice cream, jumjum. Back home it was time for me to go to sleep, pfieuw finally!

I woke up around 4, no not nervous at all. Since I had already packed my suitcase, I contacted the home front. After we said goodbye to half of the host family we left to Bellingham Airport for the shuttle. Misty and Kate dropped us of and after a big hug they left. So there I was, 7.30 in the morning waiting for our bus to leave to take us to Seattle. Finally we left, well not really a bus ride to look forward to though, 2.5 hour drive it was. When we arrived at the airport I got sort of nervous I suppose, butterfly-ish feelings in my stomach.

We checked in, went through customs and waited for our plane to leave. Finally it was time to board and a bit too late, we flew away from America. The flight went well, not bumpy this time. When we were up in the air for some hours we flew into the night, pretty to see. Marielle and I sat at the left side of the plain and at this side it wasn’t totally night while on the right side it was. You could see that part of it was dark and above it you could see the horizon, blue and orange. Even after a while we saw the sunrise, very quickly. This was very beautiful so see.

While the hours went by I got more nervous. Finally we landed on Dutch ground, took us a while to get to the gate, but the rest went quite fast.

There they were, my two boys. Liam was holding a balloon and looked so cute! I thought he had grown so much seeing the pictures, but he hadn’t at all! My parents and sister also came along, we made a pit stop at McDonalds and catched up a bit. When we arrived home, I immediately went to bed since I was so tired and had this awful headache from landing. I kind of hoped that I wouldn’t have a jet leg, but I have. And boy do I have it, still tired even when I slept a lot. But hey, I have the entire week to take morning and afternoon naps, together with Liam.

Overall I had a great time in the States, definitely worthwhile.

Love, Inger
