Just a few days left.....

Blijf op de hoogte en volg Inger

Yesterday we went to “Sehome High School” and got paired up with a student there to visit some of the classes they are taking. Together with Marielle we were led by Corine. It was great talking to her about her school and the differences between high school here and in the Netherlands.

We visited a math class first, and boy what was that tough! It has been approximately 8 years when I had math for the last time. I most watched the teacher, let me tell you this, if we teach like that in the Netherlands you would never even pass your internship let alone get your degree! After math we went to orchestra, so nice to see that you can choose something like that. Then it was about lunchtime, and when we were all stuffed in the car, yes that 16 year old student drove us, we went to Diego’s to get a burrito, jummie.

After lunch we returned to school to visit the chemistry class, also a subject of ages ago, but this I could somewhat understand though.

All together I didn’t find it that interesting because we weren’t able to really talk to the teachers or students. We just visited classes and that was basically it. But hey, we got to see a real American High School.

Today we went to Whidbey Island and got to see the Deception Pass, Rosario Beach, Mt. Erie and Fort Casey State Park.

When I woke up this morning it was pouring, and I was thinking, nooooo! But as soon as I left the house, it cleared up. So due to the weather we had a beautiful day.

We first went to Mt. Erie, the view was incredibly beautiful. You could see up to miles and miles. After that we took a walk across the Deception Pass, a large bridge which is the only connection between the Island and the main land. It was so high and the water flowed so fast under it. It was a very nice view as well, the water was so blue. When we had crossed the bridge we left to a beach, I’m not sure if it has a name, but it was pretty as well with all the rocks and light blue water. After that we went to get some lunch and drove to Rosario Beach and sat down and strolled around for a bit. The pretty blue water reminded me of summer holiday and made me want to take a swim, but the water was way too cold so I passed. .

Our last tourist attraction was the fort, because of the sunny weather, we mostly sunbathed .

On our way back I took a little nap in the van so the drive home wasn’t that long in my eyes.

When I got home we left to Boomers, and I had waffle fries and a hamburger for dinner hmmmmm, living the American life people!

Will keep you up to date these last few days, since it is Friday when I’ll be flying home! So looking forward to it, missing my two boys terribly!

Love, Inger.

    He Inger

    Groetjes X
